I will try to make this brief.

I am aware of (and have been for some time) that your main source of income is not working as my manager. However, I will not pry for information that is not offered to me freely. At least not in this case.

Trust is an issue I both value and struggle with. While to my knowledge you have never lied to me directly, what you do not say in some cases is as important as what you do. Even so, I do not think that I would have been able to make it through this year without you and I feel it is important to let you know that.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you on such short notice, but I don't foresee our differences being reconciled nor do I anticipate needing your managerial skills in the future. As of now, consider your contract terminated.
